About The Hosts

JJ Buckner

JJ BucknerHi, my name is JJ Buckner!

I am a husband and a father of two amazing kiddos and we live in a VERY small town of Missouri. I love being around my family and friends as well as riding around town on my SxS and drinking a nice cold beer (not at the same time obviously). My family is the most important thing to me in this life and they are the very reason why I do what I do every single day. My ultimate goal is to become officially financially independent and be able to travel the world with my family.

In 2014, I graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and quickly came to realize that was not the career path for me. The long days of sitting in my cubicle rotting away, I took that time to dive head first in finding a way out of the rat race. I had to figure out a way to get out of the cubicle life because I knew I wouldn’t make it 40 more years. During my research I found the legends known as Dave Ramsey, Biggerpockets and The FIRE Movement and my life was forever changed.

In 2020, I was able to quit my full-time job and my wife was able to stay home with the two crazy kiddos by living years of handling and investing my money correctly as well as creating side hustles that have turned into my full-time gig.

I now currently work on 3 different online businesses: I have my YouTube Channel known as JJ Buckner, The Average Money Podcast as well as a cofounder of a software company called The Dividend Tracker.

Brad Finn

Brad Finn Headshot

Hey, My name is Brad Finn!

I am a husband and a father of two young living on the south shore of Long Island, NY. I have been a high school teacher since 2006, but have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I have founded many businesses including CrossFit Gyms, Breweries, and most recently a media company and the Average Money podcast.

Although I love physics, business and money have always been my true passion. In 2015 I realized I had a negative net worth, $190k in debt, and would be on the hamster wheel living the rat race for the rest of my life. I decided to make some changes and take control of my finances with the goal of reaching Financial Independence. Through platforms such as YouTube and Podcasts, I hope to inspire others by sharing my story and showing everyone that even “Average People” can live and above average money. Personal Finance is all about behaviors, not intelligence! I look forward to hearing about your successes!
